Heavenly Brown Rice is a Hom Mali or fragrant Brown Rice. It is unmilled and unpolished. Each intact grain, with its nutrient-rich coating of bran, is naturally coloured. With more calcium, iron, protein, fibre, and B vitamins than fragrant (Hom Mali) rice, this nutritious staple retains the distinctive fragrance of Hom Mali rice. Picked from the freshest harvests, Heavenly Brown Rice has a particularly sweet nutty taste and distinctively chewy texture that imparts a more satisfying flavour.

What is the difference between Fragrant Brown Rice and White Brown Rice?

Wash once and then soak your Brown Hom Mali rice for ½ hour before cooking. Your Brown Rice should be soaked in 1 ½ to 1 ¾ cups of water to every cup of Brown Rice. Soaking the rice will soften the bran layer, making the Brown Rice easier to chew and enjoy.
After soaking, you are ready to cook your Heavenly Brown Rice.

Simply place the pre-soaked Brown Rice into your rice cooker for cooking. Once cooked, let it stand for 15 to 20 minutes before serving.

Combine 1¾ cups of water to every cup of Brown Rice in a deep microwave-safe dish. Cover and cook on HIGH for 5 minutes or until boiling. Reduce the setting to MEDIUM (50% power) and cook for 30 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Add 1¾ cups of water to every cup of Brown Rice. Cook on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours, or on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. Fluff with a fork and serve.

For every cup of Brown Rice, pour in 1¾ cups of boiling water. Lock the lid of the pressure cooker in place and bring to high pressure over high heat. Adjust the heat to keep at high pressure and cook for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the pressure drop naturally. Allow the rice to continue to steam for 10 minutes. Reduce any remaining pressure with a quick-release (refer to your manual). Remove the lid, tilting it away from you to let excess steam escape. Check rice for doneness. If dry but not cooked, stir in a couple of tablespoons of boiling water and replace lid. Simmer over a very low heat for one or two minutes, or until done. Fluff with a fork and serve.

If you prefer the softer texture of Hom Mali rice but still wish to enjoy the health benefits of Brown Rice, we recommend that you add Heavenly Hom Mali Rice to Heavenly Brown Rice on a 1:1 ratio i.e. for every cup of Brown Rice, mix in a cup of white rice.

In a saucepan, add 1 cup of rice to 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil then lower the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 1 hour. If you find the congee too thick, add boiling water ½ cup at a time to achieve the desired consistency.

Uncooked Brown Rice should be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for best results. You can choose to store your Brown Rice in an airtight container in a cool dry area, away from direct sunlight.
Aim to consume your uncooked Brown Rice within 1 to 2 months as it will turn rancid due to the nutrients in the bran layer.
Cooked Brown Rice can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 6 days.
